TRAIN DELAY MEANT
SPRINT TO THE STADIUM
This was the tenth year that there had been
an athletics meeting at the London (formerly
Olympic) Stadium but the first time that
GOOD NEWS for Everyone! had been
involved in it. The organisers were expecting
50,000 people to attend, so this seemed a
wonderful opportunity to reach out with the
new A5-size London HOPE magazines.
We had teams from two branches in North London,
Cambridge and Newport & Lower Wye Valley! As the
athletics meeting ran from 1.00pm to 4.00pm, all our
teams planned to be there in the morning to catch folks as
they were going in, so they had something to read whilst
they were waiting for events to start.
Unfortunately, there were major problems with the Central
underground line, so the Cambridge Branch team were
sitting on the train for a long time before leaving it at the
next station and catching a number 257 bus to Stratford.
They needn't have worried though because there were so
many people passing the steps to the Westfield Centre
next to the Stratford Underground Station that they didn't
have time to draw breath to talk to them as they took the
HOPE magazines. The teams that had arrived on time were Branch, Isaac and Dhushy from the Newport & Lower
in the same position. As one member said, 'To be honest Wye Valley Branch and our Street Pastor colleague
