TAKING TO THE

STREETS IN KENYA

Martin Lowdon, Finance Manager at
National Office and a member of Northants
East Branch, had the privilege of joining an
international team on the GO Trip in Kenya,
joining Ivan Johnston from Antrim Mid
Branch (below), and 15 Canadians to bring
the Good News of Jesus to the streets of
Nairobi and a nearby area. Some of the team
were very experienced on these Outreach
Trips, but for Martin (right) and many others,
it was their first time.

“As we gathered from our various journeys on the first
Friday evening (or in some cases at breakfast on Saturday
after some very late arrivals!), I had a powerful sense
of the love and unity and care for one another that we
shared as a team right from the beginning. I am sure this
was an answer to prayer.
On the first morning, Saturday, we went to Kawangware
– a slum area in Nairobi – to visit a church children’s
home and social work project, where we listened to the
children singing and sharing and then Ivan presented
the Gospel to them before the children lined up to each
receive a “Spark” magazine. One little girl was so pleased
with her brand-new magazine that she was absorbed in
