in the Lord and looked for Him at work. My team were
very eager to share the Gospel: so eager that at the debrief
and prayer meeting at the end of the afternoon, they
gave rather overenthusiastic numbers of the people they
said had been saved. But we did pray with and encourage
many. One man who stays in my heart was an out-of-work
builder named Moses (pictured on page 7). He was not
ready to give his life to the Lord there and then, but he
happily engaged in conversation about spiritual concerns
and considered the matter carefully. Leaving him with the
Gospel HOPE magazine we prayed for all his needs.
Some of us had the opportunity to go into local primary
schools. There was quite a contrast between the big
government-funded school, whose resources were really
limited, and the smaller, church affiliated and fee-paying
school; but in both places, the children were joyful to
hear the Good News of Jesus and to receive their own
Spark Magazine. We were also encouraged to see the faith
of the teachers who trust the Lord and teach the children
accordingly (main image).
That afternoon we returned to street evangelism in Juja,
again with a team of Kenyan volunteers who did most
of the talking. These were areas where, although some
people could converse in English (Kizungu as they call
reading it before even getting back to her seat – so much it), many preferred Swahili and I needed an interpreter.

On the Sunday we headed out of the city to an area their lives to the Lord. This was not what it feels like in

Each evening, the international team met together
for feedback and prayer. These were encouraging
and strengthening times. Some groups reported very
powerful testimonies of spiritual encounters, and
visible answers to prayer for healing, and many uplifting
encounters. One of the group told of a young woman who
had said to him that she was not a sinner! She knew this…
because she had been born again the day before (when
others of our group had been working in that area), and
so God forgives her. What a clear understanding
and faith!
For the second half of the week, we focussed on street
evangelism in Nairobi and its slum areas. On Thursday,
half of the group were in Kawangware, in the streets
